This part must be repaired by a source(s) specified on a source control or selected item drawing as defined by the current version of ASME Y14.100, Engineering Drawing and Related Documentation Practices. Suitable technical data, Government data rights, or manufacturing knowledge is not available to permit repair by other sources. This is not a commercial-off-the-shelf (COTS) item sold or repaired on the open market to both civilian and government customers. The only source currently approved is the Original Equipment Manufacturer, Aero Dynamix Inc. (CAGE Code: 01FX2) as they developed the modification as part of a supplemental type certificate (STC) for other aircraft and Aero Dynamix owns the data rights to the night vision modification that was applied to the model GNS 530AW. The GNS530W is an IFR capable precision approach GPS, VHF radio, and VOR receiver. The GNS530AW also provide terrain avoidance and warning capability. Due to lack of technical data, full and open competition is not an option. Current need for operational components does not allow for unqualified sources to take the time necessary to reverse engineer each component in order to conduct a repair. While there are vendors capable of repairing a standard GNS530AW, the only approved vendor for the NVIS modified GNS530AWs is Aero Dynamix Inc. This is a sole source requirement to Aero Dynamix, Inc. Repair of the Attitude Heading Reference System (AHRS) Applicable to the TH-1H Helicopter
Solicitation # FD20602700066
The Department of the Air Force is conducting a market survey via solicitation FD20602700066 to identify potential sources capable of repairing Attitude-Heading Gyroscopes (LCR-92 and LCR-100) for the TH-1H Helicopter. The government is seeking sources with the required repair data, capabilities, and experience to support these specific parts, which are manufactured by Northrop Grumman LITEF GMBH. A critical requirement for all respondents is the possession of existing access and proprietary authority to the Original Equipment Manufacturer technical data. Any replacement materials used during repair must equal or exceed the quality of the original parts. The intended procurement strategy is a five-year Firm Fixed Price contract consisting of a basic period and four ordering periods, with a planned period of performance from January 1, 2028, through December 31, 2033. While the action will not be a small business set-aside, both large and small businesses are encouraged to participate in this research. This current effort is a Request for Information and not a formal solicitation for proposals; therefore, no contract will be awarded based on the responses to this RFI. Interested parties should provide documentation supporting their capability to meet the requirements to the primary point of contact, Yashica Woods.
