The State University of New York at Old Westbury is seeking sealed bids for the replacement of non-compliant stair railings and balusters at the Campus Center building, with proposals due by 11 a.m. on April 10, 2025. The project involves removing existing railings that do not meet New York State Building Code and ADA standards and installing new, fully compliant systems, specifically utilizing Pacific Stair Corporation's 400 Series Picket Rail or an equivalent. The scope includes providing all necessary labor, materials, equipment, and supervision, with a focus on safety, proper coordination, and minimal disruption by phasing the work to one stair core at a time. Bidders must submit shop drawings for approval, specify the brand and specifications of the railing system, and ensure all work complies with relevant codes, including guardrail height and support methods. The contract includes a one-year warranty on parts and labor, and the project is scheduled for completion within 360 days, with a detailed procurement calendar and site safety plans to be coordinated with SUNY. The bidding process emphasizes diversity goals, with specific minority and women-owned subcontracting targets, and the project is open to all NYS counties, with a total contract value estimated between $500,000 and $1,500,000.
