SECTION 1: GENERAL RFQ INFORMATION
The Cities of Spring Hill, Fort Scott, and Fontana, Kansas are requesting qualifications for services of a qualified engineering firm to provide a rail corridor plan to evaluate and recommend improvements for fourteen (14) at-grade crossings connected by the BNSF Fort Scott Subdivision. The selected consultant will analyze each crossing, evaluate alternatives to improve safety, and recommend designs for safety improvements.
This project is being supported, in part, by a Rail Crossing Elimination (RCE) Grant that was awarded to Spring Hill, Fort Scott, and Fontana by the Federal Railroad Administration (FRA), U.S. Department of Transportation. In addition to federal funding, the cities received funding from the Kansas Infrastructure Hub and Build Kansas Fund.
