Request for Quote (RFQ): Automated Parcel Bundle Sorter (APBS) Scale Replacement

TO ALL PROSPECTIVE RESPONDERS: Subject: Amendment of Solicitation 3A-15-A-0010 before closing date RFQ Automated Parcel Bundle Sorter (APBS) Scale Replacement Solicitation 3A-15-A-0010 Amendment 01 is issued to: a. Update the response due date from Friday, October 24, 2014 by 01:00 p.m. EDT to on or before Thursday, October 30, 2014 by noon. Responses to this RFQ must be submitted in Microsoft Word (.doc or .docx) or Adobe Acrobat (.pdf) format and attached to an email addressed to, Marie J Headley - US Postal Service Merrifield, VA Marie.J.Headley@usps.gov (703-280-7207- office) no later than 12:00 noon EDT on or before Thursday, October 30, 2014. b. Provide responses to the following questions: 1) Question/Statement: "What is the speed of the induct conveyor in the full Scale Replacement in section 4.1 it's stated as 200 fpm and in section 4.4 it's stated as 160 fpm". Response: "Portion of the induct of the APBS machine is comprised of two conveyors; a code conveyor traveling at 160fpm and a scale conveyor traveling at 200fpm. Paragraph 4.1 is the description of the scale conveyor and speed; 200fpm. Paragraph 4.4 is the description of the operating scenario and describes the speed of the upstream conveyor (code conveyor) from which the scale conveyor receives packages". 2) Question: Where is the information regarding the scale "connection"? Response: "The scale "connection" is specified in the APBS Scale Replacement SOO. The connector is RS232, which is a connector on the scale transducer itself. The connector is part of what is believed to be the on-board scale controller. This connector is noted in Paragraph 4.1, Item # 9 for the scale/conveyor replacement and in Paragraph 4.2, Item #5 for the transducer replacement. Postal Service is currently updating the scale envelope drawings to show the location of the connector. The communication between the APBS system controller and the scale is noted in Paragraph 4.4, Item #s 2, 3, and 4. Specific RS232 message structure will be made available when needed". c. Postal Service is available to host Prospective Quoters at the Merrifield, VA Facility on Monday, October 27, and Wednesday, October 29, 2014 from 9:00 a.m. EDT to 10:00 a.m. EDT. Delivery schedule for the APBS scale remains the same. e. All other terms and conditions under Solicitation 3A-15-A-0010 are in full force and effect.
