The City of Sierra Vista (CoSV) operates a joint-use facility at Sierra Vista Municipal Airport/Libby Army Airfield, and is one of only 21 joint-use airports in the United States. This facility operates under the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) designator FHU. The civilian facility is currently entirely surrounded by Fort Huachuca Military Reservation. This is a critical factor for continued growth and development of the facility. The CoSV benefits from the airfield facilities constructed for the use of the military, which also allows the civilian facility to accommodate a broad range of aircraft, from single engine piston to Boeing 747 class. Under agreements between FAA, the CoSV, and the Department of the Army, the CoSV currently holds fee title to approximately 72 acres of airport property and is pursuing the acquisition of an additional 203 acres. There are over 60 hangars and 35 tie-downs for lease to private aircraft. All ground services for FHU are provided by CoSV Department of Public Works personnel.
