This notice of funding opportunity (NOFO) encourages research focused on developing, optimizing, and testing the effectiveness of service-ready, scalable strategies and tools that can be used to facilitate training (i.e., promote competence and sustained implementation fidelity) and quality monitoring in the delivery of evidence-based suicide prevention interventions across the range of settings where at-risk individuals are encountered, and across intercepts in suicide prevention services. Relevant research focuses on (1) developing and testing scalable approaches, including technology-supported approaches, for training providers in evidence-based approaches for assessing and managing risk (e.g., prevention, treatment, and crisis services), and/or (2) developing and validating pragmatic strategies for monitoring the delivery and quality of suicide prevention services, to facilitate efforts at training, supervision, and quality improvement efforts. In an effort to streamline the application process and sustain momentum in this critical research area, this NOFO supports both exploratory/developmental and standard research projects through a grant award instrument.

Request for Information (RFI): Strategies to Advance RAPIDs and Real-World Evidence for Serious Mental Illnesses and Related Brain Disorders
Solicitation # NOT-MH-26-090
The National Institute of Mental Health is seeking public comment and stakeholder feedback to develop strategies for building a coordinated evidence base for rapid-acting psychotropic interventional drugs (RAPIDs) used to treat serious mental illnesses and brain disorders. This Request for Information focuses on advancing real-world evidence and pragmatic clinical research to determine how these interventions, such as psilocybin and esketamine, can be delivered safely and effectively outside of tightly controlled trial environments. The goal is to establish a scalable research infrastructure, including a potential demonstration network, to harmonize data and optimize clinical practice, safety monitoring, and patient outcomes across diverse populations and care settings. NIMH is soliciting input from a wide range of stakeholders, including patients, clinicians, researchers, payers, and pharmaceutical companies, across twelve specific topic areas. These include priority effectiveness questions, pragmatic trial designs, safety protocols, delivery models, and public-private partnership strategies. This request is for planning purposes only and is not a solicitation for funding or a request for applications. Interested parties must submit their electronic responses by November 9, 2026.
