EXCEPTION: FUNCTIONAL MERCURY USED IN BATTERIES, FLUORESCENT LIGHTS, REQUIRED INSTRUMENTS; SENSORS OR CONTROLS; WEAPON SYSTEMS; AND CHEMICAL ANALYSIS REAGENTS SPECIFIED BY NAVSEA. PORTABLE FLUORESCENT LAMPS AND PORTABLE INSTRUMENTS CONTAINING MERCURY SHALL BE SHOCK PROOF AND CONTAIN A SECOND BOUNDARY OF CONTAINMENT OF THE MERCURY OR MERCURY COMPOUND. (IAW NAVSEA 5100-003D).
FEDERAL SUPPLY CLASSIFICATIONS 5330/5331 CONTAIN NATIONAL STOCK NUMBERS (NSN's) AND LOCAL STOCK NUMBERS (LSN's) THAT MAY DETERIORATE WHEN EXPOSED TO ULTRAVIOLET (UV) RAYS. THE CONTRACTUAL END ITEM SHALL BE PACKAGED AND SEALED IN A MEDIUM DUTY, WATERPROOF, GREASEPROOF, OPAQUE BAG IN ACCORDANCE WITH MIL-DTL-117, TYPE II, CLASS C, STYLE 1.
