The National Research Council Canada (NRC) has a requirement to retrofit its present control system for a Bühler SC N/53 cold-chamber high pressure die casting machine for process and digitalization research and development. The new control system will be integrated in the Aluminium Technology Center’s foundry facility in Saguenay, Qc, and is an integral part of a wider upgrade of selected peripheral equipment to Industrial Ethernet communication, and supervisory control and data acquisition to a faster exchange protocol. The new control system must be compatible with the existing Bühler SC N/53 die casting machine hardware, compatible with 600V power supply, and in accordance with the Canadian Electrical Code, Part 1. The following items are part of this requirement: - One high-pressure die casting control system keeping the existing process functions and supporting Ethernet/IP, Profinet, and OPC-UA protocols - Integration and installation with the existing die casting machine hardware in Saguenay, Qc, Canada
