AI Contract Overview
The U.S. Department of Defense, through the Commander of the Marine Corps, is conducting market research via a Request for Information to identify Commercial Off-The-Shelf Reverse Osmosis Water Purification Units capable of producing over 1,200 gallons of potable water per hour. This initiative aims to replace the legacy Tactical Water Purification System with a more reliable, supportable, and lightweight solution designed for expeditionary forces engaged in Expeditionary Advanced Base Operations. The new system must operate efficiently in saltwater environments, reduce power demands, and enhance performance to support mobile, self-sufficient units across combat, humanitarian, and disaster relief missions. The information gathered will inform future procurement strategies and requirements but will not result in any immediate award or compensation to respondents. The RFI, issued under solicitation number M67854-26-I-5331 and posted on June 23, 2026, has a response deadline of July 23, 2026. The Marine Corps anticipates a future potential procurement of up to 145 units under a five-year Firm-Fixed-Price Indefinite Delivery Indefinite Quantity contract. No set-aside is planned, and responses are sought from industry sources capable of meeting the technical and operational demands of the ROWPU. All communication regarding this RFI should be directed to Jamie Fullinwider or Stefanie Conway at the Quantico, Virginia office, with submissions handled through the designated SAM.gov portal.

Full Description
This is a Request for Information (RFI) for market research purposes only. This is not a solicitation for proposals, proposal abstracts, or quotations. The purpose of this Request for Information (RFI) is to identify sources capable of providing a Commercial Off-The-Shelf (COTS) Reverse Osmosis Water Purification Unit (ROWPU) that can purify over 1,2200 gallons of water per hour.
The Government does not intend to award a contract on the basis of this RFI or to pay for the information solicited. The information provided will be used to assess market capabilities and refine future requirements.
Description
The Product Manager Engineer Systems, Portfolio Acquisition Executive Marine Corps (PAE MC), is conducting market research for potential sources of a ROWPU. This system is intended to replace the legacy Tactical Water Purification System (TWPS).
The envisioned ROWPU will be a critical enabler for expeditionary forces, particularly those executing Expeditionary Advanced Base Operations (EABO), where success hinges on mobile, self-sufficient, and logistically light units. By producing potable water at the point of need, the ROWPU directly increases operational tempo while reducing the vulnerability of extended logistical supply lines. The system will be used across the full range of military operations, from combat support to Humanitarian Assistance/Disaster Relief (HA/DR).
The ROWPU must address the deficiencies of the legacy system by being more supportable, reliable, and capable. It should be significantly lighter, have lower power requirements, and deliver enhanced performance, particularly in saltwater environments.
The Marine Corps anticipates a procurement of 145 ROWPU systems under a potential 5-year Firm-Fixed-Price (FFP) Indefinite Delivery Indefinite Quantity (IDIQ) contract.
