(RFFCP2022) Tribal Capacity Building Subgrant - Calaveras Band of Mi-Wuk Indians (#1729-RFFCP)

The Sierra Nevada Conservancy has issued Amendment 2 to grant agreement 1729-RFFCP (RFFCP2022), providing additional funds to the American Indian Council of Mariposa County, Inc. for the Calaveras Band of Mi-Wuk Indians. This amendment focuses on tribal capacity building through the completion of California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) and National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) environmental compliance analysis. The work is specifically designated for potential future forest health and fuels reduction activities on Frank Fischer tribal allotment land, located approximately 0.5 miles west of Bummerville on the south side of Bald Mountain Road in Calaveras County. The scope of work is strictly limited to planning, resource surveys, environmental analysis, and coordination with the Bureau of Indian Affairs and professional consultants to develop the required environmental documents. Under CEQA Guidelines section 15262 and Public Resources Code section 21102, the project is classified as a statutory exemption for feasibility and planning studies. Consequently, the agreement explicitly prohibits any ground or resource disturbance during the execution of this planning amendment.
