The State of Michigan, through the Department of Transportation, is soliciting proposals for a truck-mounted Cone Penetrometer Test (CPT) Sounding Unit. The required system must be a current production model with at least three years of design experience and two years in production, installed on a 6 x 4 chassis. While a Vertek system on a Mack chassis is preferred, alternate systems are acceptable if supported by manufacturer literature. The unit must be capable of seismic and dissipation testing and be delivered fully assembled and operational to the MDOT Fleet Administration in Lansing, Michigan, under F.O.B. Destination terms with freight prepaid. Proposals are due by July 16, 2026, via the SIGMA VSS portal. The contract will be awarded on a Lowest Price Technically Acceptable (LPTA) basis to a responsive and responsible bidder who passes all evaluation criteria, including assessments of Michigan economic impact, prior experience, and compliance with labor and environmental laws. Key requirements include the appointment of a dedicated contractor representative, adherence to SOM Digital Standards for digital deliverables, and strict disclosure of hazardous materials such as mercury and PFAS.
