Brunswick County is seeking sealed proposals for the removal and disposal of lime residuals produced at the Brunswick County 211 Water Treatment Plant in Southport, North Carolina. These residuals are a byproduct of the lime softening process used in water treatment, with current stockpiles totaling approximately 1,200 cubic yards (900 tons). The residuals are primarily in a cake solid form, classified as “Beneficial Fill” by the NC Division of Waste Management, and are generated at varying quantities depending on the season, with higher volumes from May to September. The scope of work involves the contractor removing residuals from the site to maintain stockpiles at or below approximately 450 tons to avoid disrupting plant operations. The County will provide loading services during regular weekday hours, and hauling must be scheduled with the Water Treatment Plant Superintendent. Billing will be based on actual cubic yards of material removed, verified through signed load tickets provided by WTP staff, with no guaranteed minimum or maximum quantities. The contractor must comply with all applicable laws and regulations governing waste disposal and is responsible for ensuring proper handling and transportation of the residuals. The project size is estimated to be between $500,000 and $1,500,000, with the potential for negotiations and adjustments to the scope as needed.
