The University of Alaska is seeking to establish a pool of qualified firms through a competitive proposal process to provide a range of architectural, engineering, surveying, and technical services across its campuses in Anchorage, Fairbanks, and Southeast. The selected firms will operate under three-year term contracts, beginning January 1, 2025, and ending December 31, 2028, with no guarantee of work or minimum payment obligations. These contracts serve as umbrella agreements, outlining general terms, rates, and payment methods, with specific project scopes to be authorized via individual amendments called Project Authorizations. Each Project Authorization will specify the scope, schedule, and maximum fee for that particular project, and no services will commence until the university and the selected firm execute these amendments. The scope of disciplines includes architectural, civil, electrical, environmental, hazardous materials, materials testing, mechanical, structural engineering, and surveying, with some services like commissioning and special inspections limited to certain campuses. The contracts are intended for projects with consulting or service fees up to $300,000, though the university may issue separate solicitations for larger projects. Prior to the first Project Authorization, firms must provide proof of comprehensive insurance coverage, including workers’ compensation, general liability, automobile liability, and professional liability. The solicitation emphasizes that the university is not liable for payments until a specific project is authorized, and the contract size ranges from five to twenty million dollars, reflecting the scale of potential projects. The response deadline for proposals is January 15, 2025, and further details are available through the provided online notice link.
