The Town of Wheelock, Vermont, is seeking qualified engineering consultants to address damages to the Fall Brook Road Bridge caused by the July 2024 flooding. The scope of work includes reviewing existing documentation, damage assessments, and scopes of work in collaboration with local and state officials. An essential component involves conducting an environmental evaluation, specifically a scour assessment, to inform the design of a replacement foundation that is resistant to scour. The consultants will develop repair or replacement recommendations, which will be submitted for review by the town, state, and federal agencies. Pending approval of the environmental evaluation and recommendations, the project will proceed to engineering design to restore the bridge to at least its pre-flood condition or better. The solicitation, titled "RFQ Engineering Svcs Wheelock Fall Brook Rd Bridge," was posted on July 22, 2025, with a response deadline of August 4, 2025. The project is estimated to have a contract value between $200,000 and $500,000. The Vermont Agency of Transportation, under the Town of Wheelock, is managing the project, and interested firms can contact Erin Swigart via email or phone for further details. The project emphasizes a comprehensive approach to bridge repair, environmental safety, and resilience to future flooding events.
