Systems used to monitor the Salinas dam have been occasionally upgraded but remain antiquated. As an initial step toward meeting USACE and DSOD requirements, the District plans to conduct a planning-level analysis of upgrade alternatives. The purpose of this alternatives analysis is to identify how the monitoring system can best be upgraded and the optimal locations of new equipment in relation to failure modes of the dam. This instrumentation and monitoring alternatives analysis will encompass both USACE and DSOD recommendations and requirements.
