San Joaquin County is undertaking a repaving project to address deteriorating parking lots at four community centers: Larch Clover in Tracy and Garden Acres, Taft, and Gianone in Stockton. The current conditions, marked by erosion, pose public safety risks, prompting the replacement of all existing pavement to restore functionality and safety. The work involves full removal and reconstruction of the parking areas at each location, with no partial repairs planned. The project site is situated in primarily residential neighborhoods with mature trees surrounding the facilities, which may support nesting migratory birds protected under the Migratory Bird Treaty Act, including the threatened Swainson’s Hawk. Construction activities scheduled between February 15th and September 1st require a pre-construction survey to ensure no active nests are disturbed, with compliance tied to environmental protections. The project aims to enhance community assets by providing safe, reliable parking that supports public use of recreational and social services at the centers. By improving infrastructure, the County seeks to strengthen access to community resources and promote overall public well-being. The forecasted posting date is July 1, 2026, with Fatima Gutierrez, Associate Planner at San Joaquin County, serving as the point of contact for inquiries. The locations are all within California, and the project is positioned as a public safety and community enhancement initiative without specific set-aside or contracting classifications identified at this stage.
