San Juan Bautista State Historic Park Electric Vehicle Charging Station

The project involves installing an electric vehicle charging station at the Gavilan Sector Office within San Juan Bautista State Historic Park to support charging needs for state park vehicles and enhance utility for park staff. The work will leverage existing electrical infrastructure, including pull boxes and underground conduits running from the Wood Shop to the Grainery Building. Contractors will replace the current LB outlet body with a certified 10-inch by 10-inch NEMA 6 exterior-rated pull box, install a new three-quarter-inch exterior conduit running along the building’s exterior to the rear charging location, and transition to non-metallic liquid-tite conduit for the final connection to the charging pedestal. A new six-inch by six-inch exterior pull box will be placed at the pedestal site to facilitate the connection. The charging pedestal will be securely anchored to the existing concrete driveway using four half-inch diameter, six-inch deep anchor holes drilled into the surface and bolted directly to the foundation. All work is designed to integrate seamlessly with the historic park environment while meeting modern infrastructure standards for electric vehicle charging. The project is led by the California Department of Parks and Recreation, with Diana Fong, District Environmental Coordinator, serving as the primary point of contact.
