SASCU Recreation Centre - Skylight Hazardous Abatement and Painting

The City of Salmon Arm, in partnership with the Shuswap Recreation Society, is seeking qualified contractors to perform hazardous material abatement and painting services on the metal skylight structure above the wading pool at the SASCU Recreation Centre. The facility, built in 1986, contains lead-based paint and rust on steel beams and supports that must be safely removed in compliance with health and safety regulations. The work requires specialized expertise in asbestos and lead abatement, along with experience in applying protective coatings capable of withstanding the high humidity, chemical exposure, and thermal cycling inherent in a pool environment. Contractors must demonstrate proven experience in handling hazardous materials and delivering durable, long-lasting paint systems suitable for industrial and aquatic applications. Proposals must be submitted by June 20, 2026, under solicitation number BC229814, and are open to experienced contractors with demonstrated capability in hazardous material removal and industrial painting. All work must prioritize the safety of workers, facility users, and the surrounding environment during abatement, containment, and redecoration phases. The successful bidder will be responsible for full compliance with all applicable provincial and federal safety standards, proper disposal of hazardous waste, and restoration of the skylight to ensure structural integrity and aesthetic continuity.
