Full Description

Between October 10-12, 2026, the unincorporated communities of Yucca Valley and Twenty-Nine Palms, San Bernardino County, received between 1.5-2" of rain from Tropical Storm Rachel, which resulted in increased storm flows causing severe channel erosion and sediment deposition within 29 Palms Channel, Hospital Channel, and Church Channel. Additionally, on September 21, 2026, the Governor Proclaimed a State of Emergency, statewide, for the anticipated 2026-2027 El Nino. This project may include future emergency activities throughout SBCFCD's Zone 6 throughout the 2026-2027 fall and winter seasons, as El Nino continues to develop and create new storms. Emergency activities may include, but not be limited to, the removal of accumulated sediment and debris; repair of eroded or washed out side-slopes, levees, and access roads; and, repair of appurtenant flood control structures to protect private and public infrastructure, private property, and public safety.
