The Department of the Interior, through the Bureau of Reclamation and the Denver Federal Center, issued solicitation 140R8122Q0234 for the modernization of the Marys Lake Power Plant. The primary objective of this contract is to upgrade the facility's controls from analog to digital systems, specifically focusing on the Remote Terminal Unit and Programmable Logic Controller hardware. This project involves the procurement of specialized hardware components, including SEL-2244-3 and SEL-3505-3 parts, to ensure the plant's infrastructure is updated to current digital standards. To maintain system compatibility and avoid the high costs associated with extensive re-engineering, the agency utilized a brand-name single-source determination to procure equipment exclusively from Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories. This decision was based on the proprietary nature of the technology and the necessity for the new hardware to integrate seamlessly with existing infrastructure. The procurement process was managed under NAICS code 335314 and coordinated through the Bureau of Reclamation's office in Denver, Colorado.
