The USDA Forest Service Caribbean Climate Hub is seeking scientific expertise to address the impacts of climate change on agricultural workers in Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands. The project focuses on assessing climate change literacy among clinicians in eight rural community health centers, evaluating existing educational resources, and developing a culturally and linguistically appropriate curriculum to mitigate occupational risks for farmers and farmworkers. The program aims to reach at least 40 clinicians and 1,600 community members, concluding with an impact evaluation and the dissemination of results. Classified under NAICS code 541620 for Environmental Consulting Services, the initiative involves research and educational outreach to improve health outcomes in farming communities. While initially conducted as a market survey to determine contractor capability and interest, subsequent documentation indicates a sole source justification for Dr. Luis Alexis Rodriguez Cruz. This specific award is estimated at 270,000 dollars, covering a base year and two option years, based on the contractor's unique qualifications to perform these specialized scientific research services.
