The Virginia Department of Emergency Management (VDEM) is soliciting bids from vendors to supply sealed lead acid (SLA) batteries used in stream and rain gauge stations throughout Virginia. These batteries, primarily 12V 12Ah and 12V 35Ah sizes, are critical for the stations’ reliable operation. The contract requires vendors to provide new batteries that meet specified technical standards, along with rapid fulfillment services offering same-day or next-day pickup or exchange within their service areas. Vendors must also support an exchange and refurbishment program to accept and test returned failed batteries, offering core credits or refurbishment where feasible. Additionally, environmental compliance is mandatory, including proper recycling and disposal according to regulations. Bids must include the signed Statement of Work document, the vendor’s business location, and the unit cost for a single battery, although purchases will be made as needed over time. Electronic bids are to be submitted exclusively through the eVA system by the specified deadline. The contract emphasizes flexible delivery options including in-store pickup, will call, and local delivery where available. All inquiries are directed to a designated VDEM contact. This solicitation aims to ensure continuous support for the VDEM Flood Intelligence Unit’s monitoring infrastructure by securing reliable battery supply and maintenance services under environmentally responsible practices.
