The Department of National Defence issued a solicitation (W6399-26-MJ02) for the acquisition of one Selective Laser Sintering (SLS) 3D printer intended for advanced manufacturing purposes, including prototyping, tooling, and the production of end-use parts using thermoplastic polymer powders. The selected equipment must meet all technical specifications detailed in the original Request for Proposal document, with delivery required no later than March 31, 2026, to Petawawa, Ontario, under Delivery Duty Paid (DDP) terms. The contracting authority for this procurement was Capt Mélanie Crocker, based at the National Defence Headquarters in Ottawa. The solicitation allowed submissions in either of Canada's official languages and specified no detailed packaging, bar-coding, or military preservation standards, focusing primarily on technical compliance and delivery obligations. However, the procurement process was cancelled prior to the submission deadline, as indicated by Amendment 001, which withdrew the entire Request for Proposal due to significant revisions to the mandatory technical evaluation criteria. Consequently, no bids were received, no pricing information or evaluation factors were finalized, and no representations, certifications, or offeror data were collected. The cancellation also means that details typically found in sections related to contract administration, special requirements, evaluation criteria, and representations were not completed or published. The Department of National Defence remains the contracting agency, with Petawawa designated as the place of performance and delivery. The ultimate acquisition of the SLS 3D printer remains pending a new solicitation or further procurement action.
