The Shore Infrastructure Logistics Center's Base Services and Support Division (SILC BSS) regularly posts upcoming contracting opportunities through the Acquisition Planning and Forecast System (APFS), providing early visibility of requirements over $150,000 before formal solicitations appear on Federal Business Opportunities. This system allows businesses to anticipate upcoming projects, understand their general scope and scale, and identify points of contact for further information. SILC BSS is organized into four operational branches, each specializing in distinct areas: Emergency Services Contracting Operations focusing on emergency response contracts like oil spills and natural disasters; Commercial Support Services handling services such as base operating support, grounds maintenance, and food service; Purchasing, Interagency Agreements, and Utilities managing smaller acquisitions and utilities contracts; and Supply and Base Support contracting for supplies and specialized equipment including aids to navigation. In addition, SILC BSS plans to host an Industry Day in Alameda, California, providing an opportunity for businesses to engage directly with the center and learn more about upcoming needs. The main office is located in Norfolk, Virginia, while the place of performance for many contracts is Alameda, California. Interested businesses, especially small businesses, can connect with designated specialists to receive guidance and further information. The Coast Guard also provides additional resources for contractors to understand processes and opportunities within different contracting units through its official web portals. This structured approach supports transparent and proactive engagement with the business community to meet the logistical and support needs of the Coast Guard’s shore infrastructure.
