Sierra Institute for Community and Environment, “North Fork Feather All Lands Forest Health”

The California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection (CAL FIRE) is providing funding to the Sierra Institute for Community and Environment for the North Fork Feather All Lands Forest Health project. This initiative focuses on the restoration of up to 1,305 acres within the Mt. Hough Ranger District of the Plumas National Forest, specifically targeting areas near the communities of Greenville and Crescent Mills in Plumas County. The primary objectives are to improve forest resiliency, promote native plant and wildlife species, and reduce wildfire risks to local resources and community members. The scope of work includes mechanical and manual thinning, general fuels reduction activities, and prescribed pile burning. The project is classified under NAICS code 113110 and is exempt from the California Environmental Quality Act under Public Resources Code Section 4799.05(d)(1). It adheres to the North Fork Forest Recovery Project NEPA Environmental Assessment and Finding of No Significant Impact signed on June 23, 2025. Administrative oversight is managed by Shannon Johnson, Staff Chief at CAL FIRE, and Cecily Sanchez, Forest Ecologist at the Sierra Institute.
