Golden mussels have been found in Crestline Lake Arrowhead Water Agency's (CLAWA) raw water line, which supplies the CLAWA Silverwood Treatment Plant. Golden mussels pose a growing statewide threat to California's water supplies and infrastructure. They spread quickly, attach to pipes and equipment, and can disrupt water delivery, making prompt treatment essential.
To eliminate the infestation, CLAWA proposes to install a small containment tank and a dosing pump next to the existing pumps at the Department of Water Resources' Silverwood tower outflow location to meet current standards of public health and safety. The equipment will deliver low doses of a treatment solution to the raw water line to remove the golden mussels to meet current standards of public health and safety.
