The National Research Council’s (NRC) Clean Energy Innovation (CEI) Mississauga branch has a requirement for a new simultaneous thermal analysis instrument to amplify its thermal analytical characterization capabilities, with an emphasis on thermogravimetric analysis (TGA) and differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) in custom gaseous atmospheres relevant for CO2 capture and energy storage applications.
At the CEI-Mississauga branch we are establishing an advanced materials characterization laboratory that includes a suite of analytical techniques to facilitate the characterization of materials including those fabricated as part of our Materials Acceleration Platforms (MAPs) initiative.
To expand our facility’s MAPs capabilities, it is essential that this instrument be capable of high-throughput experimentation and unattended operation. Data generated by its software should be accessible in real-time by external software interfaces, allowing users to access the data via e.g. python scripts to populate centralized databases.
