SLAC supports a large national and international community of scientific users performing cutting edge research in support of the DOE mission. Success of that mission is directly coupled to the general purpose infrastructure necessary to conduct this research. At SLAC the accomplishment of that mission is currently at risk given sub-standard buildings that do not provide the appropriate environment to conduct world class science or the supporting Management and Operations (M&O) functions. Need for additional parking lots and removal of existing trailers: This is a site improvement project in advance of the Large Scale Collaboration Center (LSCC)* that includes site improvements and the demolition of trailers: T-270, 271, 451, 452, 453, and 294. Base Scope of Work: Design-Build (D-8) and construct of parking lots as shown on attached LSCC Parking Lot Design drawing dated 02/03/2020. Base scope will be the D-8 and construction of parking lots and infrastructure fit-up for future electrical vehicle charging stations (EVCS). Base scope will also include the demolition of trailers located in the east side of the 8137 parking lot. SLAC will review the parking lot and EVCS infrastructure cost to determine the most effective option(s) to undertake. The Work includes, but is not limited, to the following tasks: 1. Provide underground utility service locator services to locate all underground piping and utilities before excavation. SLAC preferred subcontractor (Coast Wide Utility Locators - Sergio Yruel +1 (555) 000-0000) shall be used for utility location. 2. Validate that the attached scope of work within the LSCC Parking Lot Design drawing does not conflict with existing underground piping 3. D-8 and construct parking lot per scope of work in the drawing LSCC Parking Lot Design which include: a. Clearing and grubbing of parking lot area. b. Excavate min 2" to 4" top soil such that all organic soil is removed, and scarifying sub grade to min 6". c. Grade the area to drain and compact the subgrade to 90% maximum density. Provide Mirafi 500 Geo Fabric or approved equal over the compacted subgrade, with minimum 2 feet lap. The perimeter of geo fabric shall be turned down a min of 12" into the subgrade at edges of parking lot. d. Provide and lay down 2 layers of Class II aggregate base; and compact each layer to 90% maximum density. The total compacted thickness of Class II aggregate base layers shall not be less than 8" thick. Each compacted layer shall not exceed 6" thickness. e. Remove and properly dispose of the excavated soil (per SLAG Environment Safety & Health procedures). f. Paint/stripe parking lot area as required per code, including parking stall, curbs, crosswalks, no parking zones, etc. Parking stalls shall be 9 feet by 18 feet each, with a 24 foot wide lane between stalls. g. Provide and install SLAG standard ground cover landscape on the new parking lot medians as shown. h. As an option, provide and install electrical vehicle charging station (EVCS) infrastructure. EVCS to be provided and installed by others. See drawings B0950- E05-004-00 and B0950-ES1-003-00 as reference drawings for the EVCS infrastructure. Infrastructure to be provided and installed shall include: i. Concrete base for each of the charging station, with power conduit stubbed up above the concrete base. 1. Conduit and wires for the EVCS to be fed from the new panel board through two Christy boxes. 2. Coordinate with Facilities Operations to lock out and tag out (LOTO) system. Wires at the EVCS end to be left in a safe state and conduit capped and water tight. 3. Two bollards to be installed for each EVCS. 4. Conduits and wire to be run under the ground. ii. Concrete base for distribution panel boards, which will include: 1. Panel Boards 2. Unistrut for mounting the panel boards 3. Four (4) bollards per panel 4. Conduit and wires from existing transformer to the panel boards. The conduit and wire shall be terminated to the nearest transformer, as shown on the LSCC Parking Lot Design drawings (field verify). 5. Conduits and wire to be run under the ground. iii. One sign for each EV parking stall that shall read: "Not Reserved - Open to all Vehicles". The EVCS stall will not need to be painted with "Electrical Vehicle Parking" notation and EV symbol, as show in the reference drawings. 4.
