AI Contract Overview
The United States Coast Guard Surface Forces Logistics Center is soliciting quotations for two specific types of sleeve bearings manufactured by Thordon Bearings Inc., featuring detailed geometric and material specifications critical to their application in propulsion shafting systems. The first item is a semi-finished Thordon Compact Shaft Bearing sized to suit specific outer and inner diameters with grooved features, and the second is a propulsion shaft sleeve-type bearing in Thordon's Grade Orange. Both require rigorous quality assurance involving dimensional inspections witnessed by a Coast Guard Quality Assurance representative, adherence to OEM standards, and specialized protective wooden packaging that prevents damage and deformation during shipment and storage. Packaging must comply strictly with military and ISO barcode marking standards; failure to meet these requirements will result in rejection. This procurement is structured as a combined synopsis/solicitation under FAR Subpart 12.6 for commercial items, using simplified acquisition procedures and intending award on an all-or-none basis. The contract will be firm fixed price awarded to the lowest price technically acceptable offeror who meets all solicitation criteria. Offers must include mandatory brand name parts or demonstrate equivalence acceptable to the Coast Guard, and vendors must be registered in SAM with valid DUNS and TIN numbers. The solicitation mandates compliance with various FAR and Homeland Security Acquisition Regulation clauses related to procurement integrity, labor laws, small business participation, Buy American Act requirements, and reporting obligations. Submissions are due by April 21, 2026, with contact and submission details provided through the designated Coast Guard procurement office in Norfolk, VA, with the point of performance in Baltimore, MD.
