The Department of the Air Force, specifically the 2nd Range Operations Squadron at Vandenberg SFB, CA, intends to award a sole-source contract to Photo-Sonics Inc. for the procurement of 20 T-Bolts. These specialized components are required to mount cameras and lenses to the Photo-Sonics Cine-Sextan Tracking Mount System. The acquisition falls under NAICS code 332722 for Bolt, Nut, Screw, Rivet, and Washer Manufacturing. This procurement is being conducted under the authority of FAR 13.106-1(b)(1) due to the proprietary nature of the OEM specifications and critical load-bearing requirements. The required T-Bolts must meet strict technical specifications, including a 4-inch overall length, a 1 3/16 inch T-end, and fine thread specifications. Most importantly, each bolt must be capable of supporting a dynamic load of up to 300 lbs, a requirement that the government has determined cannot be met by other market sources. While this is a notice of intent for a sole-source award under contract number F4D1A12160AW01, the government allowed for challenges from firms capable of providing an equivalent supply by October 5, 2022.
