Contracting Activity USDA-APHIS-MRPBDS-ASD Contracting (2) Two (2) Poster Deer Feeder Adapter (3) Dandux Outdoors modified four post deer feeder adapter for the application of "tickicide." (4) 6.302-1 Only one responsible source (5) Dandux outdoors has an exclusive commercial patent license to manufacture a four post deer feeder adapter which applies tickicide with Agricultural Resources Services. The Notice of Intent to grant the American Lyme Disease Foundation an exclusive license to the referenced patent was published in the Federal Register on September 14, 2000. No objections were received. The patent will expire August 10, 2013 (6) A sole source notice was posted on FBO.gov on 20 July 2010 with no responses received as of 05 August 2010. (7) There are no similar products on the market (Google search of "tickicide applicator" yielded no results in the first 5 pages yielded no comparable items in production, similar for "tickicide" and "deer"). The price is fair and reasonable based on previous acquisitions and comparison with other tickicide applicator products. (8) Market research was conducted via internet searches and the posted sole source notification. (9) The market for production of this (or similar) devices is not large enough to entice additional companies into production. Other patents for similar devices were found but we could not find anyone actually manufacturing the rollers. (10) No other sources expressed interest. (11) As a commercial item with an exclusive patent license there are no barriers to competition to overcome. (12) This justification is accurate and complete to the best of the contracting officer's knowledge and belief.
