DLA Aviation in Philadelphia intends to award a sole-source contract for the procurement of two sonar dome spares (NSN 5845-14-588-7069, part number 44035965AK). This item is flight critical and currently only approved for procurement from Thales, the sole source identified. While other responsible sources may submit capability statements, proposals, or quotations for consideration, any new source must obtain Government approval before contract award. This source approval process requires submission of detailed technical data as specified in the NAVSUP WSS Source Approval Information Brochure. Offers lacking the necessary data or documentation of previous submission will not be considered. Due to the critical nature of the item and potential delays in approving new sources, the Government may proceed with awarding the contract based on existing approved sources to ensure timely support to the fleet. The procurement will be conducted under FAR Part 15 and utilizes the authority under FAR 6.302-1, confirming that only one responsible source can fulfill the requirement. The contract is not set aside for small businesses and falls under the NAICS code 334511. Navsup Weapon Systems Support, part of the Department of Defense, is managing the procurement from its Philadelphia office. While the Government lacks sufficient accurate drawings or data for full open competition, responsible vendors are encouraged to participate by complying with the source approval requirements to be considered for this critical acquisition.
