The Remote Ground Terminal (RGT) contract, solicitation number W5J9CQ20R0003, is a single-award hybrid FFP/CPFF IDIQ task order issued by the Department of Defense through the USA Geospatial Center. The agreement designates Radiant Mission Solutions, Inc. as the sole provider for the continued development, fielding, maintenance, and integration of the RGT prototype system. This system is designed to support INDOPACOM and Army TENCAP missions by providing ground station software that enables direct access and processing of satellite data for military applications. With an estimated total capacity of 49 million dollars over a potential eight-year period, the contract is justified under FAR 6.302-1(a)(2) because Radiant is the only responsible source capable of meeting the requirements. Radiant holds exclusive ownership of the proprietary data and intellectual property associated with the RGT system. This sole-source position is the result of industry consolidations where previous imagery providers, including operators of RADARsat, WorldView, and GeoEye satellites, were merged into or acquired by Radiant, leaving them as the only vendor capable of performing RGT services and integrating commercial data into a functional military system.

Full Description

Radiant is the sole designer, developer, manufacturer, and prime integrator of the RGT Prototype system which includes proprietary data and intellectual property exclusively owned by Radiant. The RGT was originally contracted with MDA Information Systems, to develop ground station software for commercial imagery providers to allow direct access and processing of satellite data. These imagery providers included MacDonald, Dettwiler, and Associates, the operator of the RADARsat satellites, DigitalGlobe, the operator of the WorldView Satellites and GeoEye, the operator of the GeoEye satellites, as well as several other smaller companies. Since then, all of these companies have either merged with, been acquired, or reorganized into Radiant. Due to these consolidations of imagery providers, Radiant is now the only vendor capable of performing RGT services; developing software capable of making the RGT operational; and integrating commercial data to provide a functional system for military application.
