The Naval Surface Warfare Center, Crane Division, is conducting a market survey to identify potential sources for blank discriminating magazines compatible with all variants of the M4 Carbine and M16 Rifle, which are currently used by the U.S. Navy. These specialized magazines prevent the loading of live ammunition while allowing the use of blank rounds during training, thereby enhancing safety. The announcement invites interested parties to submit white papers of up to 10 pages, including company capabilities, personnel, facilities, and relevant manufacturing experience, along with commercial literature and rough order of magnitude cost estimates. Submissions must also include detailed business information such as points of contact, addresses, and classification of the company size. This sources sought synopsis acts solely as a request for information and does not guarantee funding or the issuance of a formal solicitation such as a Request for Proposal or Invitation for Bids. The government will not reimburse companies for any costs incurred in response, and all provided information becomes government property while being safeguarded as appropriate. Responses are encouraged by the stated deadline, but late submissions may be considered at the government's discretion. The purpose of this effort is to assess available technologies before potential future procurement decisions, with no current contract awards or funding commitments implied.
