The South Bay Salt Pond Restoration Project (SBSPRP), Eden Landing Ecological Reserve: Phase 2 Project is part of a multi-agency effort to restore tidal marsh habitat, enhance managed pond habitat, maintain or improve flood risk management, and provide recreation and public access. The 6,400-acre Congressman Pete Stark Ecological Reserve at Eden Landing (formerly Eden Landing Ecological Reserve) is owned and managed by CDFW. The northern portion of Eden Landing was previously restored and enhanced under Phase 1 of the SBSPRP, described and evaluated in the 2007 South Bay Salt Pond Restoration Project Final Environmental Impact Statement/Report (2007 EIS/EIR). The currently proposed Phase 2 Project (proposed Project) would restore tidal marsh and enhance managed pond habitat in the southern half of Eden Landing. Pursuant to the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA), CDFW certified the 2007 EIS/EIR in December 2007 (Programmatic and Project specific activities (Phase 1 of the SBSPRP). CDFW certified the Final EIR (SCH No. 2016052051) for the SBSPRP, Eden Landing: Phase 2 Project (April 2019). Since certification of the 2019 EIR, some project activities, in particular perimeter levee breach locations, have been modified to be located on land owned by CDFW. CDFW has prepared this Environmental Checklist/Addendum to evaluate whether the potential effects of the proposed Project modifications were adequately examined in the 2019 EIR.
