(16) Description The U.S. Government has a requirement for continued operation and maintenance of dark fiber pairs over approximately 2,354 miles within the Southeastern region of the U.S. to support Department of Defense (DOD) communications. The period of performance is one-year with nine one-year options for a total of 10 years. The requirement is to provide operations and maintenance in order to provide continuity of services of the U.S. Government-owned Department of Defense Information Network (DODIN). The Contractor shall provide dark fiber and commercial facilities to support the requirement. The Contractor's facility and its personnel must maintain a minimum Security Clearance at the Secret level. Other performance and security requirements apply. (19) Interested persons may identify their interest and capability to respond to the requirement or submit proposals. This notice is not a request for competitive proposals. However, all capability statements received within thirty days after the date of publication of this synopsis will be considered by the Government. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed contract based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. Information received will normally be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement.
