The US Army Corps of Engineers, New York District, is organizing a Service Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business (SDVOSB) Outreach Initiative Workshop on April 7, 2008, at the Four Points Sheraton in Elizabeth, New Jersey. The workshop aims to foster greater involvement of SDVOSB firms in doing business with the Corps by providing detailed information on the contracting process, eligibility requirements, and opportunities within the agency’s diverse project portfolio. Last fiscal year, the district procured various goods and services including military construction, environmental projects, dredging, and facility upgrades across locations such as Fort Drum, West Point, McGuire Air Force Base, and Picatinny Arsenal. The event will also present insights into related civil works programs and offer networking opportunities for SDVOSBs to showcase their capabilities to potential prime contractors and subcontractors. Participants will have access to breakout sessions addressing specialized procurement requirements for architect-engineer services, construction, and real estate projects, with representatives from the Veterans Affairs and Small Business Administration available to provide supplementary guidance on the SDVOSB program. The workshop is open to all SDVOSBs and businesses aspiring to become certified, with registration required by April 3, 2008. Attendees may also receive assistance with registration in the Central Contractor Registration (CCR) system, a necessary step for federal contracting, by bringing essential business and banking information for setup. There is no fee to attend, and the event encourages the participation of both large and small businesses seeking SDVOSB subcontractors. Registration and additional details are available through the Corps’ New York District website and designated contacts.
