SR 111 TMS Lifecycle Reset

Caltrans District 11 is initiating the SR 111 TMS Lifecycle Reset project located at SR 111 and East Heber Road in Imperial County. The primary objective is to reset the life cycle of the traffic monitoring system by removing the existing controller, salvaging equipment, and installing a new controller and contents. This upgrade is necessary because the current components have reached their end-of-life cycle and are prone to failure, and the replacement is required to meet current directives, policies, and the SB-1 Mandate. All project activities will be performed within the existing TMS cabinet and within the State Right of Way, ensuring there is no ground or vegetation disturbance. The project is classified as a forecast and has been granted a CEQA categorical exemption under statute 15301 for the repair and maintenance of existing facilities, as well as a NEPA categorical exclusion under 23 CFR 771.117 and 23 USC 327. Environmental compliance includes adherence to NPDES and stormwater commitments as detailed in the Environmental Commitments Record.
