The SR 49 Emergency Sewer Replacement Project, managed by the City of Angels Camp in California, involves the removal of approximately 390 linear feet of degraded 6-inch unreinforced concrete pipe. The existing pipeline has suffered structural failure, including holes in the sidewalls and flow line that have allowed backfill materials to obstruct flow. This failing infrastructure will be replaced with new 6-inch PVC pipe, maintaining the original lines, grades, and horizontal alignment. To ensure continuous service during construction, a sewer bypass system will be operated, and traffic control measures will be implemented to protect the work zone and manage vehicle circulation. Following the installation of the new pipeline, all affected hardscape, asphalt, and minor concrete will be replaced in kind. The project is classified as a forecast and is subject to a statutory exemption under Public Resources Code Section 20180.21, as the pipeline replacement is less than one mile in length. Administrative oversight is provided by the City Planner and City Engineer, with the project located in Angels Camp, California.
