Network Contracting Office 8 of the Department of Veterans Affairs intends to make a sole source award to Sun Nuclear, a Mirion Medical Company, for the procurement of SRS/SBRT Quality Assurance equipment to support the West Palm Beach VAMC in Florida. This acquisition is designed to expand radiation therapy services to include stereotactic body radiation therapy and stereotactic radiosurgery, ensuring clinical compliance and patient safety. The procurement includes a comprehensive suite of specialized tools such as the Daily QA 4 Pro, SRS MapCHECK, StereoPHAN package with MRI support, and the STEEV SRS Phantom along with various target inserts and accessories, as well as web-based training. The award is being pursued under simplified acquisition procedures because Sun Nuclear is the original equipment manufacturer and the only source capable of providing the unique characteristics required for these advanced QA systems and motion management phantoms. While this is a notice of intent for a sole source award and not a request for competitive proposals, interested firms have seven calendar days from the publication date to submit evidence of their ability to meet the requirements to the contracting officer.

NOTICE OF INTENT TO SOLE SOURCE

SRS/SBRT QA Equipment

Network Contracting Office 8 (NCO 8) intends to make a sole source award to Sun Nuclear, a Mirion Medical Company as a Single Source Award IAW RFO 12.102 using Simplified Acquisition Procedures. Market Research was conducted and determined that the required items must be procured from Sun Nuclear due to unique characteristics that limit availability to only one source. Sun Nuclear is the Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) for the majority of the required QA devices.

The proposed procurement to support the West Palm Beach VAMC is to acquire Sun Nuclear Corp. equipment to expand radiation therapy services to include SBRT for improving patient care services and operational efficiency in Radiation Oncology Services. This acquisition is critical to maintaining compliance with clinical standards and ensuring the highest level of patient safety. The Department of Veterans Affairs requires advanced radiation therapy Quality Assurance (QA) systems and motion management phantoms to support accurate, safe, and effective delivery of complex treatment modalities, including SBRT, and stereotactic radiosurgery. These devices are essential for verifying linear accelerator performance, validating patient-specific treatment plans, and supporting imaging workflows such as MRI-guided therapy.
