AI Contract Overview

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) plans to award a sole-source contract to AB Service Agreement for maintaining and servicing the Applied Biosystems instruments—specifically the Genetics Analyser 3130xl and Sequence Detection System 7900HT. These systems are critical for conducting immunological assays related to hepatitis viruses and contain specialized parts that only Applied Biosystems can provide and maintain. Regular quarterly service maintenance is essential to ensure the equipment remains fully operational. Due to the unique nature of the parts and the importance of uninterrupted functionality, the CDC has determined that awarding the contract to any other vendor could result in unacceptable delays. The CDC invites other interested parties who believe they can meet these requirements to submit a capability statement within 15 days from the announcement date. These submissions will be reviewed solely to decide whether a competitive procurement process is warranted. The decision to proceed without competition rests entirely with the CDC. Interested parties should direct their documentation to Deborah Workman via fax or email, with all work performed in Atlanta, Georgia. The contract aligns with the NAICS code 325413, relevant to biological product manufacturing.
