Full Description

The Bureau of Engraving and Printing (BEP) intends to award a BPA to Redding Steel "to supply BEP's plate manufacturing steel material for the production of surface pieces." The provided steel must be very pure to wire cut the parts, EDM and finish to meet ISO and BEP requirements. If impurities are present in the material, the material will fail during production. Test showed steel from other vendors were not heat treated properly. This acquisition will be made under a Justification for Other than Full and Open Competition (JOFOC) per FAR part 6.302-2 Unusual and compelling urgency. BEP is in need of this requirement and having a sufficient test evaluation would delay the award of a contract which would cause serious time delay and financial injury to the Government. The period of performance is December 20, 2010 through December 19, 2011. Contact Mark Anderson, Contract Specialist, at Mark.Anderson@bep.gov with any questions regarding this notice. Any interested vendors may be considered on future acquisitions for this requirement.
