Full Description

The Store Efficiency and Resilience Package is a targeted competitive grant opportunity providing funding for stores in remote and very remote Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities to improve storage capacity and store infrastructure. Eligible remote community stores where a need has been identified may be invited to apply for a single grant to undertake minor or major capital works (excluding a full store rebuild) and/or purchase standalone assets that strengthen store operations and resilience. A total of $10 million (GST exclusive) is available, with grants ranging from $50,000 to $1 million. A targeted competitive approach has been selected to direct funding to communities where investment is expected to have the greatest impact on food security outcomes. This aligns with the National Strategy's objective of achieving equitable food security in remote communities by addressing the impacts of remoteness and strengthening systems that support access to affordable and nutritious food. Intended outcomes include improved store infrastructure and storage capacity through investment in dry storage, cold storage, back-up power and other critical assets; improved access to safe and nutritious food during supply chain disruptions and power outages; and enhanced efficiency, safety, accessibility and resilience of remote community stores through infrastructure upgrades and improved operational environments.
