Structured Cabling

The University of Houston-Clear Lake has issued solicitation RFP# 759-27-004 for structured cabling services to be performed on an as-needed, day-to-day basis at the main campus and satellite locations. The scope of work includes the installation of new Cat 6 and Cat 6a data lines, troubleshooting out-of-warranty lines, demolition of old cable plants, testing of copper and fiber optics, fiber termination, and the installation of wireless access points and POE cameras. All work must adhere to ANSI/TIA industry standards and University-specific labeling conventions, which require machine-generated, permanent labels at the faceplate, patch panel, and termination points, as well as a minimum 15-foot service loop for each cable drop. Contractors are also responsible for restoring all required fire-stopping materials for any penetrations made during installation. Proposals must be submitted by September 30, 2026, at 2:00 P.M. CT in both a signed, hard-bound 3-ring binder and an electronic PDF copy on a USB flash drive. A mandatory pre-proposal meeting is scheduled for September 8, 2026, at 2:30 P.M. CT. The University will award the contract to the most advantageous respondent based on a point-based evaluation system, noting that they are not bound to accept the lowest price. Selected vendors must maintain significant insurance coverage, including at least $5,000,000 in professional liability and statutory workers' compensation limits. Additionally, respondents must comply with various Texas state requirements, including certifications regarding antitrust laws, franchise tax status, child support delinquency, and a prohibition on boycotting Israel. Payment for undisputed invoices will be made within 30 days, subject to the appropriation of funds by the Texas State Legislature or the University's Board of Regents.
