SUNY New Paltz is seeking a design consultant to produce a comprehensive report assessing the McKenna Theatre's operational and safety conditions. The scope includes reviewing and evaluating existing structural components such as rigging, fire curtains, overhead trusses, linesets, lighting towers, and accessibility features, including aisle lighting and wheelchair accommodations. The consultant will also investigate the orchestra pit area, designing removable segmented coverings capable of supporting a Genie lift and conducting structural assessments. Electrical, HVAC, fire alarm, and sprinkler systems within the theatre and adjacent areas will be examined, with hazardous material testing arranged as needed. The final report must prioritize safety risks, code compliance issues, ADA corrections, and best practices, accompanied by preliminary budgets for each item. Photographic documentation and existing drawings will support the investigation, with the results guiding future renovation projects. The contract is a single-occurrence service with a deadline for proposals set for August 30, 2024, and is open to all NYS counties. The project involves reviewing existing documentation provided by the campus, including AutoCAD drawings and previous construction plans, to inform the assessment. The procurement emphasizes diversity goals, with specific subcontracting targets for minority, women, and service-disabled veteran-owned businesses. The contract value is estimated between $50,000 and $150,000, and the project is managed by SUNY New Paltz, with Elissa Greene serving as the primary contact.
