The identified firm will perform the following: This FDI Lead Generation needs to build on the Foreign Direct Investment Strategy & Action Plan by the Lynch Pinnacle Group. The FDI Lead Generator will generate 24 leads (based on 8 leads per event over 3 events) over the course of the contract or pre-approved itinerary with parties interested in expanding into the Sarnia-Lambton region, and as defined within this document. Markets that could be targeted are the USA, Europe and Asia. Relevant extracts from the FDI plan and ICCI project description include: • FDI lead generation will align with the following key sectors associated with the hybrid chemistry value chain: Industrial Bioproducts, Petrochemicals, and Industrial Support Services (Business Services and Advanced Manufacturing). • Build on the success of the branding initiatives associated with the Sarnia-Lambton Hybrid Chemistry Cluster • To generate pre-qualified leads of foreign companies that can benefit from access to the assets of Sarnia-Lambton • To increase Sarnia-Lambton’s profile as a potential location for new investment for foreign companies in the identified sectors highlighted above • To increase Sarnia-Lambton’s profile as a potential location for expansion opportunities from these foreign companies • To generate incremental business opportunities for Sarnia-Lambton industrial companies as suppliers of equipment and related services to those identified companies that invest in the region The FDI Lead Generator should identify potential leads in the proposed geographic regions, identify meetings at conventions/trade shows, connect with industry associations and partners within each sector for lead generation activities. It should also identify recommended activities and KPIs including levels, frequencies and measures. As part of the proposal, the Lead Generator must identify 3 specific events or pre-approved itineraries from which to generate leads for the consideration of SLEP with the ultimate decision of proceeding with these or other events by SLEP. -Conferences and Exhibitions to be Excluded from Consideration -Specialty & Custom Chemicals America (Feb 10-13 Fort Worth, TX) - ABLC2020 (Mar 25-27 Washington, DC) - BIO World Congress on Industrial Biotechnology (Sept 20-23, Raleigh, NC) - ABLC Next 2020 (Nov, San Francisco, CA) The Lead Generator should propose meetings to be reviewed with SLEP staff before proceeding. It is known that Sarnia-Lambton has concentrations of employment and infrastructure in advanced manufacturing, chemicals, plastics, bio and clean technologies. A strategic opportunity exists for growth depending on workforce and other conditions especially in coordination with related infrastructure development including new infrastructure being developed by Lambton College, the Western Sarnia-Lambton Research Park, Lambton Manufacturing Innovation Centre and the private sector. It is recognized that Sarnia-Lambton is a leader in certain sectors - it is home to 40% of Canada's Petrochemical industry and Canada’s first Hybrid Chemistry Cluster. Focus on overseas international markets such as Europe and Asia may be applicable. Other sectors including cleantech may be best served with a strategic focus on geographic markets such as the United States - strategic for Sarnia-Lambton, given our Canada-USA border location. It is anticipated that the FDI Lead Generation will build out a fulsome number of international connections here .
