The contract involves the implementation of an alternative water treatment program utilizing the proprietary WCTI system for multiple buildings in Region 8. Originally introduced as a pilot under the Green Proving Ground program, the technology demonstrated significant benefits over four years, leading to its continued use by the General Services Administration (GSA) facility manager and operations and maintenance contractor. The initiative aligns with the GSA's commitment to sustainability as mandated by Executive Order 13693, focusing on reducing water usage in facility cooling towers. The WCTI system has effectively reduced water consumption, eliminated the need for traditional chemical treatments, and improved the cleanliness and efficiency of chillers and cooling towers. This project is managed under Acquisition Plan AP_P08_2016_440, titled "Sustainable Water Treatment for Region 8 Cooling Towers," and carries the solicitation number GS-08-P-16-JA-C-7006. The contract is overseen by the PBS R00 Acquisition Support Division of the General Services Administration based in Washington, DC. The work supports ongoing federal sustainability goals by enhancing water conservation efforts in regional facilities through an innovative and tested water treatment technology.

Full Description

Alternative water treatment program for multiple buildings in Region 8. The WCTI system is a proprietary technology that was initially sole-sourced for the Green Proving Ground program. This technology provided such overall positive results that it has remained in operation over the last 4 years as a decision made from the GSA facility manager and O&M contractor. GSA extended its commitment to sustainability under Executive Order 13693. In response to the Executive Order, GSA set new goals to meet these requirements. This project is directed at water reduction of our facilities cooling towers. This technology was tested in Region 8 as a Green Proving Ground pilot program. The results of our study have proven successful water savings, eliminated standard chemical technology, and resulted in cleaner chillers and cooling towers. This effort is covered under the Acquisition Plan AP_P08_2016_440 – Sustainable Water Treatment for Regional Cooling Towers.
