General Atomics, based in San Diego, California, has been awarded modification P00007 to contract N0001922C0033 by the Naval Air Systems Command for the CVN 81 aircraft carrier, the USS Doris Miller. This sole-source award utilizes a combination of fixed-price-incentive-firm-target, firm-fixed-price, and cost-plus-fixed-fee structures. The scope of work includes the production, assembly, testing, and management of Electromagnetic Aircraft Launch System hardware with embedded software and firmware, as well as Advanced Arresting Gear system shipsets. The contract further covers the resolution of hardware and firmware obsolescence issues and provides for non-recurring engineering to evaluate and implement changes to technical data, software, and logistics products through the configuration management process. The justification for the sole-source award is based on General Atomics being the sole designer and manufacturer with the requisite technical data and expertise. Performance of the contract is distributed across San Diego, California, Tupelo, Mississippi, and Lakehurst, New Jersey, with a required-in-yard date of August 2027 and an expected final completion date in September 2032. The action is categorized under NAICS code 336413 and was managed through the Department of Defense.
