The Army Contracting Command–Detroit Arsenal is set to exercise a six-month extension option under contract W56HZV-21-D-0018 with BAE Systems Land & Armaments, L.P., whose current period of performance ends on July 6, 2026. This extension will run from July 7, 2026, through January 6, 2027, ensuring the continuation of critical technical and sustainment support services for the AMPV and M113 Families of Vehicles. These services encompass system technical support, post-production support, engineering, logistics, and field support throughout the development, production, and sustainment phases managed by the Project Manager Mounted Armored Vehicles. This contract is a sole-source procurement restricted to BAE Systems, given their status as the original equipment manufacturer and the exclusive holder of complete technical data packages necessary to fulfill the agency’s requirements. Although other responsible sources may submit capability statements or proposals for consideration, no separate solicitation will be issued due to the government’s intent to exercise the option clause in the existing contract. This procurement is governed under FAR and DFARS regulations allowing award to a single responsible source when no alternatives meet the agency’s needs. The primary point of contact for this acquisition is Michael Shumar.
