AI Contract Overview

The F-35 Joint Program Office intends to award a sole source delivery order to Lockheed Martin Aeronautics Company to support the Early Lifecycle Systems Engineering process. This government-led, model-based capability development initiative ensures that modernization candidate capabilities for increments 1-4 and above are sufficiently mature before transitioning into the F-35 Program of Record. The process consists of three phases involving working group meetings and knowledge point events, culminating in a System Requirements Review to refine requirements and assess technical feasibility, cost, schedule, and risk. Lockheed Martin is designated as the sole source for this effort due to its unique position as the designer, developer, and integrator of the F-35 aircraft, possessing the proprietary technical documentation and expertise necessary for the project. While the government is pursuing this as a non-competitive acquisition under statutory authority, it will consider capability statements or proposals from other responsible sources submitted within thirty days of publication. Subcontracting opportunities may be available through Lockheed Martin, and all associated data remains export controlled.
